Pre-selection of Personnel
(unemployed people and those at risk of unemployment only)



The Company-Oriented Further Training and Job Placement programme offers a wide range of measures to support companies in placing qualified personnel in innovative technical and IT positions. The measures target companies from outside Berlin that are investing in Berlin for the first time or are returning to the city, as well as Berlin companies that are expanding their business activities. The programme offers the following services, as and when required:


  • Personnel recruitment (unemployed people and those at risk of unemployment only)
  • Pre-selection of personnel (e.g. through assessment centres)
  • Advance training measures to provide necessary skills and qualifications
  • Provision of training grants for on-the-job training for new staff



Funding focuses on the following business areas:



  • Services
  • Life sciences
  • The media / Information and communication technologies / Creative industries
  • Manufacturing industries / Transport

Investors that are creating additional new jobs are particularly welcome to apply for funding.

Grants for continuing and on-the-job training


These grants are awarded for the purpose of providing on-the-job training for new staff and ensuring that they are adequately qualified for their positions. Grants are awarded for the first twelve months of employment; the maximum number of training hours is 800. Grants are available only for workers who were previously unemployed or threatened with unemployment and who have been hired for permanent positions with wages subject to social insurance contributions.


Important: Applications must be submitted before staff are taken on!

Adjustment training


Funding is awarded to companies undergoing restructuring (e.g. switching over to manufacturing new products) if the further training measures they are initiating are geared towards ensuring subsequent employment within the same company.
Training courses covered by collective bargaining agreements are not eligible for funding.
Enterprises operating in the commercial economy, the liberal professions and the service sector (with the exception of companies primarily financed by public subsidies, are eligible for funding.



COSTS COVERED BY FUNDING:


  • Personnel costs for participants in training courses
  • Costs for tools and equipment
  • Other current expenses for materials, fittings and furnishings
  • Costs for consultancy services
  • Travel expenses for trainers and trainees (in exceptional circumstances)
  • Personnel costs for trainers

The amount of funding for a single training scheme may not exceed €1 million. The grants provided may not be combined with other public monies.

The Company-Oriented Further Training and Job Placement programme is financed by Berlin’s Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Women’s Issues and by the European Social Fund.
