Fast access to information on training opportunities, comprehensive career guidance and client-friendly opening hours all add up to an efficient, competent service. In addition to guidance on training, the LernLaden team organises a variety of information events and campaigns focusing on initial and continuing training in Neukölln.
The LernLaden is also dedicated to maintaining and developing contacts with businesses in the region. It offers individual counselling to employees of small and medium-sized enterprises to help them identify what additional qualifications they might wish to obtain.
The LernLaden also hosts career guidance roadshows for educationally disadvantaged young people and older people with educational and training gaps. The service aims to reach the target groups where they live, thereby easing the channels of communication and boosting receptiveness to counselling. Counsellors work with individuals to develop comprehensive solutions, which can include advice on training-related questions, placement in training schemes and/or support in finding traineeships, apprenticeships or employment.
The three LernLadens were developed as part of the programme Learning Regions – Providing Support for Networks, funded by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research and the Berlin Senate. The Senate Department for Labour, Integration and Women, the European Social Fund and JobCenter Neukölln have been funding the LernLaden® Neukölln since 1 July 2006.
The LernLadens® will feature a travelling integration consulting service until at least the end of 2010. Each integration consultant advises up to 80 people participating in paid work opportunities programmes (AGH). AGH offices and their sponsors act as an initial liaison between consultants and clients. The goal is to facilitate placements in jobs subject to social insurance contributions and placements in training or further education programmes.
